This person

nursery man

is finally old enough to attend our church nursery after nearly 18 months of chaos. I want to buy new cars for all of the nursery workers or at the very least wash their current cars’ windshields with my tears of joy.

Seeing Magoo clap his hands and yell “Yay-MEN!” after a prayer in nursery is fun. Not hearing him yell other choice words during the adult meetings anymore is even more funner.

the reasons: spongy bones for children, exterminators

    Yay-MEN is adorable.

Ahh, I hear ya! Nursery age is sweet bliss. When #3 finally went in last Spring, I thought I heard the Hallelujah chorus. 🙂

Congratulations on your newfound freeness! Breathe a sigh of relief and enjoy your adult meetings now! Yipee!!!
I agree with Cheryl about the Hallelujah chorus. Such a glorious moment.

When our nursery leader called about a month before Big Moses’ 18 month-old birthday to tell me the date he would be coming into nursery, I was like, Seriously? You think we don’t know the date? Dude, we have a “Countdown-to-Nursery-Advent-Calendar” on the wall. 🙂

Oh how I remember that day of rejoicing! Congratulations on not killing him before he got to 18 months.

Am counting the minutes until my February date of freedom!! I can’t remember what it’s like to sit through a meeting–I’m going to have a hard time sitting still now that my attention span is shot.

Your worship life will never be the same, Kathryn. Now you may actually learn some other choice words from the person in the pulpit. This is a day of celebration indeed!

Ahhhhhh. Aveeeno. Nothing like having the itchy rash that is your toddler at church, finally taken away. Let the celebrating in SS and RS begin.

We have 1 1/2 more months. I can make it…I can make it. We don’t go to the Sunday School because Mini-Man thinks it cool to pound on the piano or pound on the cupboards in the back of the room. I lost him last Sunday. He went into a classroom while I was talking with someone in the hall. It took 5 minutes to find him and the rest of the day for me to calm down about it.

1 1/2 more months. I can make it.

    1 1/2 more months.

Now I really thank the Lord for a little congregation filled with famliy members. Mine went in as soon as they were able to be detached from my hip/brest for more than 30 minutes. Usually around 1 year…and often cousins would wisk them away before that time.

2 months and counting until my little girl can go to nursery. I recently got put in YW, so it doesn’t seem so bad, since she is more quiet then most of the girls. But I still look forward to when she can go.

Congratulations! My last countdown ended on the same day I became the new Nursery Leader! So much for my freedom! But, I had a baby eight months later and they mercifully let me go…but it was fun while it lasted. The new one is still small enough to sleep through most of the meetings, so the new countdown can wait for a while.

oooh… I remember that feeling. Except I was almost immediately called as a nursery leader right after Loli became of age (sigh).

You’re really lucky if you were able to just leave him the first day! Yay!!! There are always a few kids who are so inconsolable that they cannot be left for several weeks– it’s a sort of weaning process (I’m sure you know what I mean). So Yay (men)!

We actually started taking our daughter (who has SPD, like me, and strongly dislikes change) to Nursery when she was almost 17 months old (after talking to the Nursery leader about it) because we knew we would have to get her used to it. First we just visited, then we both went with her and all stayed an hour, then we both went and all stayed the whole time, then we all went the first hour, and I left the second, then we all went and I left after five minutes, then Abba left for half an hour, then Abba left for an hour, then Abba stayed the first 10 minutes, then five, then finally she went alone by the time she was just 18 months. It worked really well, and now she loves Nursery. We will have to do the same with our next kid, I think. But alas! 17 months is not for another… 10 months! Oh, no!

Hooray for nursery!!!!! I always love this day and look forward to it from the day they start crawling.

I’ve actually been able to sit alone in RS for two and a half whole years now!! And we’re about to have baby and start the whole process again! What was I thinking?!?

    Oh, yeah, not about nursery.

I swear that kid has grown up in the 2 weeks since I’ve seen him. He must be stopped. Freeze-frame that child. He may be ready to grow up, but I’m not there yet.

I know this is late, but I’m curious. My son is also 18 months, but I know there is no way I could leave him somewhere like that. What I’m wondering is what are the rules for kids with special needs? The Biscuit has Down syndrome, but is in the 16-18 month range for all his milestones except for speaking (10-15 month range on that). Do they use some other criteria besides just age? Do the kids need to be able to speak or something before they can go to Sunday School, or is it just the age and it’s up to the poor Nursery Leaders to deal with all the developmental differences?
