The Faeries are Coming!

February 15, 2007 by Kathryn

Thanks to everyone for your awesome suggestions for Laylee’s faerie birthday. You people know how to part-tay! I’m sending the DYM shirt out to Heffalump for her suggestion of little flower pots and tools so the kids can create their own faerie gardens at home. I love this idea for its creativity, utility and cheapitude.

I will be using several of your ideas and will hopefully post pictures on the website some time in March. Again, thank you all so much. This may be the best birthday party EVER. Okay, if I gave them each a bag full of sugar and let them run in an orbiting pattern around my kitchen appliances it would be the best birthday party EVER but these suggestions should help make it more than adequate.

I think you will have a great time – especially since Laylee is so pumped! She told me the other day that she is going to be 4 and 4 year olds have princess parties or fairy parties. I guess that child is successfully assimilated. Have fun!

“little bag of sugar” *choking* I guess I can substitute the word “Superman” or “Power Rangers” for “fairy” and “princess” and I will have an identical child to yours. Except mine is male. He keeps asking why he can’t marry Kiki. Yesterday he asked if he would get arrested if he married her. It’s kind of creepy that I keep reading about my life on your blog, with all the names changed.

Well, I can’t argue with that! I totally missed her comment and I think it is a DARLING idea!

Congrats Heffalump and what a great idea! I’m going to have to file that away for future use. No t-shirt for me…this time…

Wow I feel so special! I never win anything! If you want to know what is kind of scary, its that I have five sons and no daughters. So I am glad that my idea will get used since I am not likely to get to host a faery party.

To see a photo of a beautiful Trinidadian (is that a word) fairy, look at the Friday photo at Chookooloonks.

I did a fantastic pirate party for my 4 year old just last weekend. I had a pretend fish tank where they “caught” a buried treasure chest to decorate. Then I served hot dogs, chicken nuggets, fish crackers, pirate’s booty and “cannon ball” grapes (what could be more appetizing?) At the end we had a treasure hunt which ended up in the back yard and we surprised my son with a REAL sandbox where they got to dig for buried coins using their pirate hook hands. After all of that work and creativity (thanks to the internet for ideas) his favorite part of the party was to “run in an orbiting pattern” around my living room to backyardigan pirate songs while I prepared lunch. Remind me next year to consult you before I go all out! Sheesh!
