Yesterday

August 18, 2010 by Kathryn

Yesterday was a tough one. I sort of blogged it out over at at Parenting.com.

But today is a new day. I was nicer to the kids. The fridge situation got all sorted out and the new one is lovely and spacious and if we were gonna cash in our life savings for a fridge, then I’m glad it was this one.

Laylee’s hearing aids are still under warranty and will be replaced by the manufacturer. I told her that they “gave us one more chance.”

Yesterday was bad. Today was better. Tomorrow my in-laws are coming and we’re gonna have all kinds of fun.

Oh my. I’m sorry you had such a bad day, but the line about tearing down a wall and then rebuilding it out of pre-sharpened number 2 pencils and rage was priceless.
    Price. Less.
I hope when I have crappy days in the future that I can at least channel my energy into at least one gem of a line like that.
It’ll make it aaaall worth it, right? …right?

Can I try to make you feel a little better? My uncle takes my kids flying in his helicopter when we go visit. This morning he got a phone call at 4:45am saying the hanger his helicopter was in was burning. The helicopter is gone. The man who owns the hangar had his boat, plane, motorcycle and lots of antiques in there and lost it all…no insurance for him. This same uncle has part ownership in a plane (8 of them share it). He got another call this afternoon letting him know one of the other guys had crashed the plane just below my parents house. Luckily no one was seriously hurt.
Bad days suck but at least youre not alone. Hope tomorrow is better!

That is awful. Yeah. My day doesn’t seem so bad after that.

That sounds like a truly crappy day. I am glad that things are better now. I was a rebel with school shopping and just got close enough with the items. I hate the whole it must be this brand ect crap and I get what I can for the least amount of money.

Yay, I am so glad that the fridge fits and works and ESPECIALLY glad for the hearing aid warranty. I have never heard of a warranty that covers loss by seven year old child!

Maybe you can put them as a line item on your insurance policy, like the family jewels πŸ™‚ or they could make a model that beeps when you need to locate it, like the phone.

Have fun with your in-laws… mine are coming in another two weeks and we’re stoked too.

Glad to hear the warranty was still good on the hearing aids. Now that you’ve used your one get out of jail free card, you should get ESCO insurance. We pay about $200/per ear each year for Marielle, but as you now know, it’s way cheaper than buying a new pair of hearing aids.

I also suggest a dry and store professional (http://www.dryandstore.com/?CONTEXT=cat&cat=15) for her to keep them in at night. Extends the life of the hearing aid, plus it’s a good place for her to keep them. Either in her ears or in the dry and store, then they won’t get lost — at least not as quickly.

The best line ever is “Maybe that wall isn’t load-bearing.” Ha! I’m so sorry to laugh at your expense, but please tell me that you don’t feel better after writing that beautiful line? Ha!!!

I had a week like this last week. But at least nothing expensive was lost… it was more like I Waaaaay overscheduled myself and had a mini-freak-out session at the beginning of the week. By the end of the week a few things had fallen off the table of their own accord… don’t you love that it always gets better. Always.
