That’s NOT Yoga!

May 5, 2008 by Kathryn

I was trying out some yoga for beginners in the family room this morning when Magoo walked in.

Magoo: What? Are? Youdoing?
Me: Yoga. It’s a special kind of exercise.
Magoo: That’s not ECKK-ERCIZE!!!! That’s SITTING!

Maybe I should go to a class.

    Woohoo – first comment!

I think it’s exercise if it’s hard. Make Magoo sit still in one location the whole time you do yoga – THEN he’ll think it’s exercise!

I love that kind of eckercise. I finally went to a class and loved it sooo much. Whenever I pop in a yoga video, Zeeb climbs on the couch, because he really likes to watch other people eckercizing. I’m not sure if he’s just a budding peeping tom.

My favorite workout is the LYING DOWN one. Preferably with a glass of white wine balanced on my stomach.

I’ve been reading your blog for a long time. Puget Sound moms need to stick together.
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE yoga. Meditation can be hard work.
Sometimes it looks a lot like napping. Graduate from sitting to napping.

What about Child’s Pose? That’s like sitting but not as obvious because your bum is up instead of down.

Get him to do it with you! 🙂 (not that I’ve done much myself . . . ), but my little guy loves to yell “look! I’m doing down dog!” anytime he puts his hands on the floor! (that’s the one pose he remembers from his Itsy Bitsy yoga class) 🙂

My son likes to copy my pilates–based on what he does, my pilates must look a lot like sticking my bum in the air and kicking like a donkey. He says, “I did a pilaty!” 🙂

If yoga is just sitting that I am the healthiest lady on the block. Just wait until you see the corpse pose I do all. night. long.
Yoga all day, yoga all night in the house of moosh.
