We stayed home for Thanksgiving this year and somehow lured most of Dan’s family up from Utah for a visit. It was a lot of fun. We went shopping, ate until we nearly ruptured, went and saw that one movie and played games, lots of games.
As I was playing with Dan’s sister, KayLynn, I started to notice things and I didn’t need google to tell me that something wasn’t right. We were playing a speed card game that she’d never tried before and she was clobbering everyone. She was impossibly fast and strong. Her bowl of ice cream was pale white and ice cold.
So I shot her a dirty look.
“Say it,” she taunted me.
I gave her the look again.
“Say it out loud.”
“Card shark,” I whispered, shivering.
She asked me if I was afraid. I said I was only afraid of losing to her. And I did. Badly.
This spider monkey will think twice before she teaches that masochistic lion any new card games. I mean. As if I could outrun her at Canasta. As if I could fight her off with her mad shuffling and dealing skills.
I’m honestly not sure if she’s the hero or the bad guy but when her face sparkles in the sunlight, she is beautiful.
I know, right?

I hate to say it, but I think I might be with Dan on this one… How many times did you see that movie?

I remember awhile back when you mentioned Breaking Dawn coming out. I so did not understand what all the hype was about! Then about 3 weeks ago I started reading Twilight. I read all 4 books in two weeks! It was crazy. I’m so into them now! I seriously don’t know how I survived before them. I went with a bunch of friends on opening night, then I went again the day after Thanksgiving. I think I’m going to have to go again this weekend. I wonder if I could fake an illness and take time off of work to go watch it again before Saturday?!?! I’ll have to work on that…

Not into Twilight – Can’t do vampires, but I understand the game playing. It just wouldn’t seem like a holiday without indulging in gamiing marathons with wild abandon. So glad you had a good time.

I keep trying to post a comment and it isn’t working… Grr.
Anyway, I saw an add for these in a magazine and immediately thought of Laylee.

My sister, my husband, and my niece always win board games. I’d REALLY like to get them all in on one game someday. No matter the game, they win it. Luckily, my husband doesn’t know how to play chess or most card games. I haven’t taught him because I know he’d just kick my ass. But it was one of the things that attracted me to him, we’d play Monopoly with his roommate (who I was dating at the time!) and he’d just wipe the board with us! I know it’s weird, but I found it to be very powerful….
