Santa Wears a Yellow Slicker

December 22, 2006 by Kathryn

WE HAVE POWER!!! Early Thursday morning the trucks rolled in. The men from Montana in rubber pants and jackets stood out in the pouring rain with generators, cranes and hand tools. An hour later my dishwasher was running, the house was warming up and I had the ability to crimp my hair if I so desired. Hallelujah! Merry Christmas to all. I now have 3 days to get ready for Christmas so posting may be sparse. Head on over here for a little more of the blackout action. I’m having a hard time remembering to use actual lights, still a little flashlight happy. I honestly don’t think I’ve ever been a week without power before when I wasn’t camping.

Oh, and they’ve asked us not to use any unnecessary power (including holiday lights) until all the people in the area are up and running. It’s a bit of a bummer but I’d much rather that everyone was warm for Christmas than that my tree was glowing. Peace out!

YAHOO! I’ve been thinking about you all week, hoping you were surviving well enough and wondering how I’d survive without power for that long…oh, the cold… PS do you think there will be lots of babies born next Oct?? Happened in Calgary one year when the city closed down b/c of a meter of snow in March. Babies galore that Nov/Dec:-)

Oh wow…down here in Oregon we had the same storm and lots of people had their power out as well! We were very lucky at our house, it just flickered for about 5 seconds. But the very large church that we use to attend had their power out for days!

Glad you finally have electricity after all this time! Merry Christmas!

    Hurrah! Yeah for power!!!
Out lights went out, but only for a few minutes! I could see where Seattle used to be n our skyline… very surreal!

    Happy Chrismas!

I cannot imagine being without power for a week. HolyMoly!

My theory is it is a corners thing…Last year it was the SE, this year NW, next year should be NE…I think I want to move before that!

    Oh. My. Word.
    Have you had a month!
    You deserve a break.
If you lived closer to me, I’d put you up in my tiny little house… and give you hot chocolate, fuzzy slippers, and my teens would take all the kids out to play and wear them out.
We’d sit around sipping our hot cocoa and watch chick flicks, snuggled under flannel blankets….rodent free.
    *sigh*
