Rubber Bag Full of Ninjas

July 13, 2009 by Kathryn

My abdomen has gotten to the point where it both looks and feels like a tightly-packed rubber bag full of small and very active ninjas.

It’s a strange feeling and one I know I’ll miss when it turns back into vacant jelly belly in just over 2 months.

Baby Wanda and I are becoming very close in all the ways and although I sometimes still think she’s a boy, rarely feed her vegetables and can’t for the life of me think of a suitable offline name for her, I find myself liking her very much… especially when she keeps the nunchucks and throwing stars stowed safely in her back pocket.

I’m at 31 weeks, and I feel ya, sister! I also have a bit of sadness contemplating the baby bump going away, but it will be nice not running for the bathroom every 20 minutes 🙂

she needs these skills for when she gets out of utero and magoo and laylee think she should be doing all sorts of awesome things. She’s going to be larval for a few months, so it’ll be nice if she has something to impress them with.

A rubber bag full of ninjas is the most accurate description I’ve ever heard for a pregnant belly! Once I got to the Alien-esque stage where you could actually see the baby moving around (creepy!) my hubby always said it looked like I had a cat under my shirt, but I like the bag of ninjas better. Glad she’s keeping those nunchucks mostly under control 🙂

I was just sitting here watching my own belly wondering if a little foot or elbow might just make it all the way through on one of these attempts. And, veggies were never on my girls’ list of things they loved as a fetus. This little boy, however, has craved veggies since day one. I get more excited and more impatient for his arrival every day!

It is truely amazing what goes on in there, isn’t it? I always thought of it as a minor league hockey game – complete with hooked sticks and flying pucks.

I bet she’s going to be a star athlete of some sort. She’s practicing up already! Good girl. Just a little more expanding of the indoor soccer court and then she’ll have to come out and play in with the rest of us. Oh happy day! Can be a little uncomfortable for mom, though. Sorry about that.

Throw a wrench in everyone’s expectations and just name her Wanda. It’s the kind of name that you don’t tell anyone till after she’s born cause when they see the name by itself they cringe a little and ask if you’re kidding, but when they see the name with a beautiful child’s face all they can say is ‘awwww, it suits her beautifully’.

Because I love you, I will give you my two unused girl names:

    Louella

    Jorja (Georgia)

    I know!!! Perfect, right? 🙂

Love this – what a great analogy – I’m just starting to feel movement at 17 weeks with my 2nd – best feeling ever!!! 🙂

Oh, my 5-year old son would be so excited if I had a ninja baby! I wonder where you buy black spandex onesies?

I love her and her ninja-throwin’ ways.
