Never Boring

September 24, 2008 by Kathryn

I guess it depends on your definition of boring. Here’s a little snapshot of my life:

Word on the street is that these dolls barely escaped when a fire began raging in the wooden prison where they were being held captive.
barely escaped

Some people find rocks in their dryer. I just found a lima bean in my washing machine.

This morning I dropped Laylee off at the front door of her school, the kids’ favorite song YMCA blaring on my car radio. She looked so proud to have such a hip fly mom. I bawled as I pulled away knowing it won’t be long now until she’s no longer proud of her mom blaring disco tunes from the tinny speakers in her dorky old car. Yes. YMCA brought me to tears.

I also cried as I talked to my spinning instructor this morning asking her to check my form because if something doesn’t change, I’m going to need to drop the class due to raging joint pain. Real tears. To a woman of steel. Who hugged me right there in the gym and told me that in the past 5 years she dropped down from 230 lbs and she knows where I’m coming from. Next class she’ll be biking right next to me checking my form.

FOR THE LOVE, the TEARS! Followed by the Elaine-esque spasmodic dancing in my house after my kids were out the door for school. I haven’t had a personal dance party like that since college. If I don’t have my period soon, I think my hormones may implode.

I want to give your teacher a big hug about now. Sounds awesome.

So far, I’m still a cool mom who also blares disco. We’ll see how much longer my kids think ABBA is cool.

Without ABBA, Jackson 5, and Pat Benetar, our drive to school would be much more boring.

I’m just impressed that you are even taking spinning…and that you want to improve. I cry at the THOUGHT of taking spinning…

Three years ago James informed me that he no longer thought I was cool. I took it well. Five years earlier I told him that within 2 years he would think I was lame. He swore up and down that would never happen.

Now Jordan’s asking why James is so grumpy. I explained it was his teen hormones at work and not to worry. It would also happen to Jordan in a few short years. Jordan swears that will never happen……….

Those are cute little dolls! Where are they from??

They’re from Plan Toys. We love their stuff. I love them because they’re not as fully-formed as their usual plastic counterparts so the kids tend to be more “creative” with them for good or for ill. They’re also a green company and all their stuff is non-toxic, something I appreciate in a toy but something that’s harder to come by than you might thing.

I’ve been thinking about a spinning class . . . as soon as my gym membership is activated. IN OCTOBER! How many days do I have left? And more importantly, does it hurt?

Ohhhhh. It hurts. But you’ll love it.

    Katherine, are you pregnant?
    Because I am.

You know, I keep thinking that must be it but I don’t see how I can be. I have my reasons. However I feel like I should be losing way more weight than this and my hormones ARE all wacky. I’ll let you all know if anything reveals itself. I’ll live blog the whole thing from my front row seat in front of the toilet.

Hmmm. Crying randomly over YMCA. Period due. I’m with Kat on this one– time to pee on a stick!

Love that picture. Awesome. It makes me feel giggly…

    As far as all your emotion… can I give you a hug? I know we only met once, so I don’t want to scare you… Oh. What the heck – we’re both moms… here: {{{hug}}}
