I bought these because they are unsulphured and unsweetened.
I bought these because they are made from BLUE CORN, which is corn that is BLUE. The chips may not be a whole food, but they only have 3 ingredients and I can count that high.
I bought this because a little good sharp cheddar goes a long way which is good for my waistline.
I bought these because while I was pausing to see why they were selling “minions” from the refrigerator case at Trader Joes, Magoo leaned over the edge and spit all over them.
They say that “if you break it you buy it.” I think that if you hock a loogey all over a piece of meat, the same rule applies.

I think you’re right if you or your child barfs on something you should do the right thing and buy it. That could be a good way to justify buying regular food like chocolate chip cookies, candy bars, candy or just large quantities of chocolate.

I’ve got to train my kids to work the freezer aisle. While I’m getting Tempura Vegetables and Orange Chicken they can “ruin” some Joe-Joe’s and a Pound Plus bar.

Baby Dumpling’s Poppa made another comment in an email to me that I thought was great so I’m posting it:
“As for the rest of the stuff, I wonder what Dan would say if he saw the price per pound because that was the first thing I noticed on the cheese, even before I saw that it was imported from the other side of the world. Sorry, I think I’m just a little grumpy tonight.”
Ha ha. I knew someone would mention the Australian cheese thing and he was totally right to bring it up. It was a fun splurge though, even if its carbon footprint is massive and it’s a bit pricey.

That made me laugh, my kids always help me try new things when shopping, by leaving their mark on them.

I have never shopped at TJ’s. I’m scared! I don’t know what to buy there! What is wrong with me?
Rebekah says
oh how i miss trader joe’s! much less stuffy than whole foods and yet so good for you, and honestly, most of the food is comparably priced to a regular grocery store, if you’re comparing similar items (organic, free range, etc)
now i get to shop about 6 stores on a weekly basis crossing my fingers to find JIF peanut butter and US pepsi…(JUST got that ordered the other day and I am SO excited) If they ever start selling the chicken quesadillas again, BUY THEM (hard shell tacos with chicken, cheese and black beans) they heat up fast and taste fantastic!
Rebekah says
oh and try the dried cherries marmount or however it’s spelled…(also good if you’re pregnant and a bit plugged lol)
Jeana says
Well, was the loogey free range?
Ana says
Too funny! That hock a loogey had me dying over here! Thanks for the laugh.

Dude! I’ve been looking for minions my WHOLE LIFE! I really wish we had a Trader Joe’s. I could rule the world! Do they sell flying monkeys too?
Beth says
This post made me giggle!! Enjoy your turkey “minions.” 😉

Jen says
Oh, you Trader Joe people are all the same. Living in Washington, buying organic goodness for less than four million dollars an ounce. *pfft*
LOL My sis loved working there. I miss the spoils of her working there.

well, around here we have Albertsons and a Smith’s, and a Win-co which is just a wee bit scary. But the break-it-buy-it rule is pretty lax. Yesterday my 17 month old dropped a bottle of BBQ sauce (nope, not a whole food) from the buggy. SPLAT! BBQ everywhere. The teenager scanning eggs picked it up immediately and as I was apologizing (M was wailing) he insisted that I needn’t worry, it happens all the time, and I don’t need to pay for it. How nice…Small towns have their perks, I suppose. But no Trader Joes ;(

well.. if “Magoo leaned over the edge and spit all over them” I’d say that you are obviously not teaching your kids properly. I am single and have no children, so I ask you, why should your child’s germs effect my life because you decided to go baby-crazy? I made the decision NOT to have children and that should not effect your life in any way, socially or sanitarily. Even if you take the food, “Magoo”s boogers and germs are all over the place. I get sick, and miss work… gee thanks mom. Your body clock just caused me to use a sick day.
Parents NEED to be held responsible for ALL actions of their children. Your poor parenting or your child acting inappropriately is a direct reflection of you. If I had a dog, and he bit you…. I can be arrested and fined, correct? If I don’t clean up after my dog crapping on the street, I can be fined and held responsible… Your child is no different than my dog…. Put a leash on them…
So I say, control your kids.. and keep them away from me and my life. They are your responsibility not mine.
