J. K. Rowling is trying to take over the world through social isolation, lack of personal hygiene and sleep deprivation. With half the world’s population starved for quality sleep, unshowered and refusing to talk to even their closest friends, Ms. Rowling is poised to take over the muggle world.
I finally finished last night and I can now speak to people again and even use the interwebs, no longer afraid that someone will drop a spoiler disguised as a “review”. When people at church told me they’d finished it, I would walk away from them quickly before they could utter another word. I did not want to hear, “It was so awesome” or “It didn’t quite do it for me” because then I’d know something and I wanted a blank slate experience. I can now go to sleep sometime before I’m supposed to wake up and I may even shower later.
Did I like the book? If you’ve already finished it and you’d like to continue this discussion via email, I will be happy to share my humble opinion.

Yep, that was me this weekend. I got my copy at 1:00am on Friday night, read chapter 1, then very reluctantly forced myself to go to sleep. I read all day Saturday. I didn’t even get dressed. I ignored the newspaper and the Tv and the internet for two days until I finished it.
So glad I did.
Thea says
I can’t believe how fast you people read!!!
Leslie says
I’ve finished and I’d love to know what you thought of it. Favorite parts? Disappointments? etc.

Oh I am dying to find somebody to borrow it from! I’m too cheap for hardbacks, I always wait for paperbacks. The wait at the library is ridiculous!
I’m like you though, once I am in to a book it is really really hard to break away, I mean really, can’t my 2yo find food herself?
kelli in the mirror says
I’m done too. Between that and Shannon’s giveaway thingy I’m getting NOTHING else done this week.
Heather, somebody’s giving away a copy at Shannon’s, I noticed.
So Kathryn, what did you think of it? I’d love to hear.
JustRandi says
And THANK-YOU for NOT giving any hints!! I’m only halfway through and I don’t want to know yet!!

I got my copy on Saturday at noon and I finished it at 10:00 that night. I’ve read it through for the 2nd time now. My husband has finally started reading it and it is driving me crazy not being able to talk to him about it!!
Eve says
Yes I would love to hear what you think. You must have been up all night!
Melessa says
I adored it and I would love your opinion via email. I wrote a very generic tribute to the series on my own blog so that I wouldn’t spoil anything for anyone, but I would love to dish details with you as long as they’re disguised by email.

I had to wait until after church to start my copy as I had to give a talk Sunday. I had no idea what I was thinking accepting the talk on the same weekend Harry Potter came out. I am in the Nursery so I had no fear of anyone spoiling it for me. I am a fast reader so I managed to finish it in eight hours with the help of my husband who took over kid care.
Beth says
Even my sister won’t tell me how the book ends and she’s finished it. It’s a well guarded secret. Well, not too well guarded. I’m sure I can find it somewhere. But I promised her I would try, again, to get interested in the books. I’m currently, for the second time, trying to start book 1. I know. I know.
Jana says
I loved the book, but I did have questions. I would love to email with you 🙂
jk2boys says
I finished yesterday too.
Now it’s my husband’s turn. Isn’t it nice that he let me read it first? I noticed someone elses hubby did that too. Nice. He asked what I thought and I wouldn’t tell him, not until he’s done. Though I would love to talk about it.
I pre-ordered my copy and it took forever to come. My confirmation email for my pre-order said it would arrive by USPS on Saturday…So when my postman came and there was no HP in my mailbox I was going to panic; I even had the postman check his truck again. No luck. I called customer service and they didn’t know what to do, maybe it will come on MONDAY.
No!
My husband saw a pile of them at the store so I sent him back to buy one and I started reading it. That’s when a UPS truck showed up (around 5pm) with my pre-ordered one.
Crazy!
Anyway, we’re cheap/poor so I ran back to the store to return the one my husband bought in the quake of my little HP panic. Luckily the store understood and let us return it.
Anyway, email me your thoughts on HP, I’d love to hear what you thought.
Oh, and Laylee and Magoo are so cute in their Potter spectacles.

Loved it. My roommate and I were reading it all day Saturday. I’m a faster reader so I was about 300 pages ahead of her. I kept gasping and making things up like, “Oh no! Hermonie is pregnant with Snape’s love child!” and “Oh no! A major character has died every 220 pages. No, make that 110 pages. No, make that 81.1 pages.” It was great fun until she got mad at me and locked herself in her room.
Sarah says
Great post! That’s what happened to me… My kids endured an overtired mommy since I stayed up so late on Sunday night to finish it! 🙂
AbsolutelyBananas says
The only question that can be asked at this juncture IS… can I borrow your copy for the airplane???
Cousin Deb says
My Amazon.ca pre-order is still out there somewhere so I bought a copy last night. Read for 8 hours last night till 3am this morning, then polished off the rest after a few hours of sleep. The conversations in my house over the conscious portion of those 17 hours…
Husband: What page are you on?
Me: 16
Husband: I read the end already
Me: Go away
A son: Mom, I am hungry.
Me: The fridge is in the kitchen.
A son: Aren’t you going to cook anything?
Me: No.
Husband: What page are you on now?
Me: 157
Husband: I know what happens.
Me: No talking.
Husband: What page are you on now?
10 minutes pass….
Husband: What page are you on now?

I need to read that book! I think I am the only person on this earth that hasn’t read those books! Okay, okay I’m going to read it now! You got me reading “a tree grows in Brooklyn” and I loved it! Thanks!

I got mine Saturday afternoon and finished it Monday.
I actually convinced my husband, who hasn’t read a single HP book that he HAS to read this one. So he has started with #6 since we just saw the fifth movie.
Carrie says
I liked the book a lot. I managed to finish it before church on Sunday, happily. I was afraid I’d have to run out and read in the car while my husband socialized post-service. I found that I was actually missing the book by Sunday night though, it’s sad to be done with the series!
Melissa says
Email me! Email me! 🙂 I finished it on Saturday. Hubby took the kids and let me read all. day. long. I wish EVERY Saturday was like that…
Jennifer says
I got the book Saturday morning at 12:53am and finished it Monday about 7:30pm. I would have finished it sooner but people actually expected me to go to birthday parties, dinners, anniversary parties and even work. And then after I finished the last page I became depressed as it was all finally over and there are no more books to look forward to. Please do email me your thoughts…I’m needing to share my opinion and my husband refuses to read the books. Well really he refuses to books in general, but that is a whole other story.
Jen says
Just finished about an hour ago! Luckily no one was at my office this week and I was able to get paid to read Harry Potter 🙂 I am still waiting for my hubby to finish.. he is only about 100 pages into it… it is driving me crazy waiting for him. No one else I know of has read the book yet. What did you think of it?
Kage says
Cousin Deb, make sure you get your refund, if you pre-ordered and didn’t receive it by 7 on the 21st, they refund you for your order, then you can take that one back with the receipt from where you bought the one you are reading, and it’s free HP book for YOU!
Just finished. tear.
Amy says
Haha. That is so dorky-cute.

That picture just made my day. 🙂

I have been sick since Friday. My darling husband drove to town and brought the book back to me Sat. I read until midnight, when I finished. Sunday I started again, reading for detail the second time. I am going to really miss Harry. There is a question I am dying to have answered, so e-mail me!
Kristi says
I need to finish Harry P. asap! That pictures is so, so cute!

I finished on Sunday after a crazy weekend of reading. I will miss the craziness in a year or so when another book just doesn’t come. I look forward to reading this one again to glean some details. I’d love to know what you thought.
Mom2Six says
I’m finished, too. I’d love to know what you thought.
My husband claimed the book first (so it came out as he finished his last final for his Master’s degrees. He earned the right to read it first and relax for the first time in over two years). I had to sneak it when he was asleep or otherwise occupied. I enjoyed it–Now my children are eager to read it!

Yes, yes, what did you think? Hm? Hm? Inquiring minds want to know!!! If you ever get back home from the airport, that is. 🙂

My younger kids seriously didn’t take advantage of the checked out nature of the older members of the family while we were reading. I guess those little aren’t as bright as I like to think they are. They should have seized the opportunity to eat candy and play out front in their pajamas, but they didn’t.
Jaclyn says
HI, I’m 13 years old, and I’ve been reading your blog for 6 months. I found it through my mom (Barb) who found it through my aunt.
Anyways, I’m glad I have practically no responsibilities during the summer, because I was allowed to pick up the seventh book at midnight. I got home at 12:30, read all night, and finished it at 7:10 in the morning.
I think your blog is hilarious. My mom often finds me at the computer, laughing hystarically at something you said. I hope you keep it up, you’re AWESOME!!
