Why Even Ask?

April 21, 2009 by Kathryn

If you order food at any Taco Bell restaurant anywhere in the country, and I know because I’ve been to at least 6 of them, the person wearing the Brittany Spears head set will ask you at the window if you’d like any hot sauce with your order. Every once in a while she will look you in the eyes and act as if she cares whether you want the spicy stuff or not. Most of the time she will mumble, “Youwantanyhotsaucewithat?” as she stuffs napkins and, get this, hot sauce into your bag.

I always, always say, “no,” not because I don’t like spicy things but because I don’t want one more opportunity for disastrous mess in my car. I repeat. I always say, “Negatory.”

And I ALWAYS get one, if not several, packets of hot sauce in the bag. ALWAYS.

The same thing happens at McDonald’s. When you order a sundae, they always ask you if you’d like nuts to go with it. Over the years, I’ve become intolerant of hard chunks in my ice cream. I don’t trust them. “Was that a peanut or a pill bug?” I ask myself.

So I say, “No thank you,” when they ask if I want the peanuts.

“Does she get peanuts?” you ask yourself.

Yes. Yes she does.

ALWAYS.

If you’re just gonna give me peanuts and hot sauce, why are you acting like I have a choice?

At the grocery store, when they say, “Paper or Plastic?” they then proceed to give you the style of bag you choose, even if you’re like me and choose your own handmade reusable, 100% recycled, free range, biodegradable totes.

I always ask for ketchup at McDonalds and rarely get it….what is up with that? Apparenly, we need so ‘sync up’!

Oh! Nancy’s comment surprises me! I remember always getting handfuls of ketchup from McDonald’s whether I wanted them or not. But I wanted to say that in Poland not only do you have to ASK for ketchup yourself if you want any, you have to PAY for it. Like 20 cents a packet.

And I’m pretty sure it’s a proven fact that if you ask for ONE packet of salt, they give you four. Yey for earth day.

Today I asked for ONE packet of mayo and got two, the cashier even saying “I gave you two” like it was a wonderful gift….I know it’s a hard job, but when people are specific, listening is a good thing 😉 Maybe you could make something from all the remnants ot things not wanted? ….except the peanuts, of course, they are probably really sticky 😉 Happy Earth Day!

I must have the factory release staff at my Taco Bell. They always ask, never give it to me when I decline, and rarely if ever mumble. And they always give me my extra sour cream on the side as requested.

But let’s not talk about McDonalds. I didn’t ban them because of “Super Size Me” I banned them because they NEVER give my boys apple dippers….like no matter how many times we tried. Jerks

Hot sauce should not come in a packet. If fact, now that I think of it, unless you are an astronaut, your food should not come in a packet.

I NEVER get ketchup from McDonalds!

When my dad orders a burger he always asks for no cheese and they ALWAYS put it on there and if he doesn’t say anything it’s on there to.

Nope, never get ketchup… anywhere. Or napkins in the drive thru. But when this mama says NO PEANUTS she means it, and I never get peanuts, so bad luck, K?
