We Go Together – Couples’ Halloween Costume Ideas

October 26, 2008 by Kathryn

Dan and I got all decked out for a costume party this weekend. Low-tech, low-budget, low-wow-factor, but also low-stress.

The party was held at Nacho and Encarnación’s house. The two of them went all out. Dan and I like to stick with t-shirts.

When I was pregnant with Laylee, before I had a digital camera, I wore a black turtle neck with a white circle and an 8 on the stomach and Dan wore a green shirt with 6 pockets.

What are your favorite couples’ costume ideas?

    OMG…..I might actually…uh..be first!!! Okay….it’s not actually a contest….but, it is fun…glad you’re coming with me on this….

I loved the post!! Hubby is going as captain jack to appease my “inner-nerd-who’s-in-love-with-him” phase…JOHNNY DEPP….HELLO!?!?!? LOVE HIM!!…

I’m also dresing in a WAY TO EXPENSIVE “pink, PUNK, pirate costume….that my bro told me was the, “skankiest pirate cosume he’s ever seen….” welll you know when you’e considerered to (sorry I can’t spell!) be a “BIG GIRL” and that other thought process of…who cares…I LOVE YOU!!!!

    that’s where I’m at…

    FYI….

A friend and I were actually talking about this in church today. The funniest one I thought was that he dressed up as a tree. And she was a treehugger. You know, hippy-like.

When Handsome Husband proposed (on HALLOWEEN) I was dressed as an angel and he was dressed as a devil. One year we dressed as Mario and Luigi and our daughter was Princess Peach.

We’ve gotten a lot of use out of the costumes I made for us about 8 years ago. I bought way too much pink fabric and draped us both in it and painted the logo for “Sweet” on him and “n’Low” on me. I happen to be about a foot shorter. I’ve had a lot of people ask to borrow them – one lady even brought them back all nicely hemmed!

When we first met, we went to a party as Peter Pan and Wendy. We were so cute. And he is like Peter Pan….

    And I don’t get your shirts—maybe after a mug of coffee I will….!

My parents dressed up as Hershey’s bars one year. Mom was regular milk chocolate and Dad was … with nuts.

Of course, at fourteen I was mortified but now I think it’s hilarious.

This year my husband and I are dressing up as a cop (me) and a prisoner (him). He says he is already my prisoner, so it’s not really dressing up, haha.

This year we are going as peanut butter and jelly. Our daughter loves that we will be her favorite food!

I went to a costume party this weekend and one couple were The Incredibles. They wore red long johns with black socks and black shorts. They even had homemade felt logos. It was awesome. Their fifteen-year-old son also joined in, too.

I also saw a simpler costume with a couple wearing head-to-toe outfits, one as mustard, the other as ketchup. They even had the squirt tip hats!

I had a friend at a former job that was engaged to a guy a foot taller than her. He went as the Jolly Green Giant and she was Lil Sprout.

My husband as I went as bakers one year (very easy, aprons and hats) and my son, The Biscuit, was a biscuit. Get it, we were biscuit makers? Yeah, well, I was the only one who thought it was funny. My husband thought that The Biscuit’s costume looked more like a life preserver. The boy was in a white onesie with a white flannel “biscuit” that was stuffed and in 2 pieces. The front half was separate from the back half so that I could easily get it out of the way for diaper changes. He also thought that the pat of butter was too big. Looking back on it I suppose I could have made the biscuit taller, but I went with the boy’s dimensions and made it the same size as he was from armpits to tush. Oh, well. But I had a good time!

We once needed costumes last minute…we went as black eyed peas. WIth paper die-cut letter P’s taped all over our jeans and white shirts, I gave us each a black eye. With makeup, not my fists. Some people got it, some people didn’t. It was the best I could do at the time. My cousin & her hubs went as the Incredibles. She’s 5’2″, he’s 6’5.” It was a scream.

Okay, I get Green Eggs and Ham, but what’s the other couple dressed as? She’s a nun and he’s … Blue Nun?? Help me out here.

We just had a halloween party and a couple came as “Ward and June Cleaver”. She bought a goofy polkadot dress and cardigan, we sewed a frilly apron out of a pillow sham(thank you Value Village!!) and donned huge pearl earings / necklace and for her hubbs she got Hager double knit trousers and a sweater vest from V.V. and he carried a pipe and newspaper. She carried an apple pie and a bottle of valium in the pocket of the apron. It was pretty awesome. I want to do this next year.

    Awesome, both of the costumes!

I’m always a fan of the hot dog and ketchup pair.

The one and only time my husband and I dressed up, we went as old people. I’d just learned how to do that in stage makeup class. It was fun and now I want to see just how closely we resemble ourselves in 25 or so years.

I have kids close in age so last year they went as Thing 1 and Thing 2. You know, life from the Cat and the Hat. And I thought they were the most adorable funniest costumes ever! And so easy. Red sleeper pj’s and some white felt snapped on the front that said Thing 1 and Thing 2 and a can of blue hair spray.

Of course, that was for kids…but I totally think it could work for a couple as well.

    Hello darling Kathryn!

Last year we dressed up like each other. I was a computer engineer with socks, sandals and a t shirt that said “Talk Nerdy To Me”. Greg dressed up as a Scentsy consultant, complete with makeup, a nice scarf around his neck and he carried around a basket of scents, spraying room spray and passing out catalogs.

He was a sexier woman that I have ever been. It kind of frightened me.

OIMYGAUD!!!! When I read that you guys dressed up as eachother I turned to my hubby and said BABE! We are SO DOING THAT NEXT YEAR!!! LOL!!!

That’s is so freakin’ GENIUS! I’m like I could wear one of your weirdly obsessively matchy matchy outfits and you could wear jeans with rhinestones on them and carry my big huge purse! It would be freakin’ amazing!

      He looks scared……;~)

My cousin and her husband were so cute.

She was a nun and him a prisoner–they called themselves the Holy and the Heathen.

I LOVE it! Simple and to the point–green eggs and ham. But the Nacho and Encarnacion is something else. My son will have to take a look at this when he gets home. He’s quoting that movie all the time.
