Chocolate, Socks and Apple Pie

July 4, 2007 by Kathryn

They wanted chocolate.

It was dinner time.

I said no.

They really wanted chocolate.

It was a holiday.

I said yes.

It was the 4th of July and I thought they deserved some freedom.

love-sacI did not put sandals on Magoo while he was wearing these socks. That was someone else. He has the freedom to wear sandals with socks. And I have the freedom to abstain.

Here’s to a country where we’re free in many more ways than those listed above. Although I am daily aware that this country isn’t perfect, I love it dearly and feel so grateful to live here. I’m far from perfect myself and I just hope that every day I’m getting better… and that there’s some pie left in the kitchen.

My thirty-something brother started with the socks and sandles in college, way back when it was kinda ok. But HE STILL DOES IT! Ahhhh! Drives me nuts!

That is a comfy looking chair. I would like one big enough that I can be totally surrounded like your kids are in that pic.
A chair like that, and some pie…what could be better?

was it ever kind of okay to wear socks and sandals?
    Maybe in Utah.
My brother in law does it. He’s only 25. Poor guy.

Are you sure about the whole freedom to wear socks with sandals thing? I’m not sure anyone’s free enough to do that! Of course, it’s been a while since I perused the Bill of Rights!

    Happy 4th all week long!

Our #2 wears black socks pulled up with his sandals. He’s 9 and won’t listen to our deperate pleas to stop. He must take after his Grandpa Blake.
